Hypnotherapy for PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event.

It is characterised by symptoms such as intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, and avoidance behaviours. PTSD is where a traumatic event has not been filed in the brain correctly, hence replaying it over and over in the mind.

Hypnotherapy for PTSD enables the brain to file the event, which will clear your head of those unwanted, intrusive and emotional flashbacks.

If you need to remember the incident you can, but from a practical non emotional way.

Often people have put their lives on hold when suffering from PTSD, once we have cleared the intrusive thoughts, we can move on helping you find the confidence to live a fulfilling, confident and happy life. I often hear the words “PTSD is ruining my life”.

Do you suffer with the following:

  • Nightmares.
  • Flashbacks.

  • Struggle to relax

Leaving you fearful and overwhelmed with the simplest of tasks:

Imagine:

  • Knowing if a challenge arises it can be dealt with calmly and positively.

And I bet you have already tried to find a solution and are still struggling…

  • You have been told to try deep breathing, but hey, that is a lot easier said than done when you are in the middle of a panic attack.
  • You may have been offered medication from the doctors, but you didn’t like the side effects.
  • You may have even tried counselling or CBT, but still not felt better
Imagine feeling like this....
HYPNOTHERAPY FOR PTSD WORKS BY ACCESSING THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND, PROCESSING THE TRAUMATIC EVENT, AND FILING IT IN THE MEMORY BANK WHERE IT CAN BE REMEMBERED ONLY WHEN REQUIRED AND WITHOUT INTENSE EMOTION.

Hypnotherapy for PTSD - Overcoming Panic Attacks and Restoring Wellbeing

Understanding the Impact of Trauma - Learn how your thoughts and behaviors can influence the brain and trigger the body's "fight or flight" response in the context of PTSD.

Cultivating a Positive Mindset - Through hypnotherapy, we retrain your conscious mind to develop a more positive outlook, establishing a strong connection between thoughts and behaviors, leading to improved long-term wellbeing.

Restoring Harmony in the Brain - By working with the subconscious, we rebalance neuro pathways in the brain, promoting peace and harmony, allowing you to live life calmly, happily, and confidently despite the challenges of PTSD.

How Hypnosis Helps with PTSD and Panic Attacks

Extended Session Duration - Each hypnotherapy session typically lasts for 1 hour, but to ensure ample time and a relaxed experience, I provide up to 1.5 hours, allowing us to address your needs effectively without rushing.

Flexibility in Delivery - You can choose between in-person sessions at my private, secluded home address in Stow-on-the-Wold or remote sessions via Zoom. During trance, it's essential to have a quiet space where you can talk comfortably and relax.

Focus on Solutions - The initial part of the session involves psychotherapy/talking therapy, emphasizing solution-focused strategies. We explore how you want to feel without panic attacks, redirecting the focus towards a more positive future.

Harnessing the Power of Trance - In the second part of the session, you'll experience trance, a deeply relaxed state that allows your brain to be highly receptive to positive suggestions. This process helps reset neuro pathways, promoting a sense of calm, relaxation, and confidence.

Empowered Outcome - By the end of the session, you'll leave feeling lighter, brighter, and more relaxed, equipped to maintain this positive state as you move forward, managing and overcoming PTSD-related panic attacks effectively.

Hello, I am Lisa, a qualified hypnotherapist and PTSD therapist. You can find out more about me here.

As your therapist I work with you to process the trauma memory, helping you gain control of your thoughts and emotions.

Hypnotherapy for PTSD works by accessing the subconscious mind, processing the traumatic event, and filing it in the memory bank where it can be remembered only when required and without intense emotion.

What is great about hypnotherapy is that you can do this "content free”.  As your hypnotherapist, I do not need to know the details of the event, and you do not have to relive the event by explaining the details to me and how they made you feel in great detail. Often, this can be re-traumatising.

We can use several different techniques to process the memories. As your therapist, I will explain how I can help you and give you the choice of how you wish to proceed.

Usually, we start by using hypnotherapy to promote deep relaxation and reduce stress and anxiety levels. This, in itself, can help individuals reduce the overall impact of PTSD. But there are other techniques we can use where you can visit the trauma in trance, but from a dissociated perspective. This limits the impact on your emotions and allows you to appropriately file the memory. If you need to remember the event, you can do so from a practical, not emotional, state.

Once the memory has been filed correctly, I can help you move forward in life, help you gain control of your thoughts and emotions. Moving your focus towards the future you want, hopefully calm, confident, positive etc.  How would you like to feel? What would you like to achieve?

Hypnotic trance accesses the subconscious mind, where the neuro pathways in the brain are re-balanced, ultimately leaving you feeling calm, confident, and happy.

When calm and confident, you exude an aura of inner peace and self-assurance. You can feel comfortable in your own skin and approach life with a sense of purpose and direction. You can have a sense of resilience, and setbacks can be seen as challenges that can be dealt with positively, calmly, and confidently.

Overall, hypnotherapy is an effective and non-invasive treatment for PTSD. It can help individuals overcome PTSD symptoms, develop a positive mindset, and live a more fulfilling and empowered life, free from the burden of past traumatic experiences.

Testimonials

“After years of crucifying nightmares which left me too scared to sleep, I was diagnosed with PTSD. I thought PTSD was something that servicemen were affected by, people who suffered harrowing events, not people like me. I tried to persevere, managing on snatched hours of sleep - my work suffered, my moods were erratic and life was a struggle. I saw an advert for hypnotherapy, which was aimed specifically at helping PTSD and realised I had nothing to lose. Lisa was amazing, the treatment simple and here I am now, I sleep all night , no nightmares, no fears, no wakefulness. If my life has been transformed like this, anyone's can. Lisa, THANK YOU”.

“I’ve been to visit Lisa twice now, both times for different reasons (Give up Smoking and PTSD). Lisa always made me feel so comfortable. She has helped me overcome so much in such a short amount of time. Hypnotherapy has helped my confidence and day to day life. I can’t recommend Lisa enough. Thank you!”
